How are you involved in education?

  • I teach seventh grade English at Guthrie Junior High School. My class focuses on writing, writing, and more writing!

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal classroom has a class set of Google chromebooks with plenty of outlets, the sound of typing fingers and the scribble of writing utensils, more students talking to the class than me, and lots of hugs and furrowed brows!

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • As a first year teacher, I have a lot to learn, but I’ve been a follower of Google’s many applications in the workplace and classroom for seven years now. If you have a question about Google, I can probably answer it!

How are you involved in education?

  • I was a high school teacher for 18.5 years and have just recently stepped into a full time student role at Oklahoma State University as a PhD student. I am also teaching some courses at OSU as well.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • Its a classroom with computers, smartboard, apple tv, glass walls, ipads, and chromebooks. Its a creative space where learning is powerful and FUN and connected.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • Gamification – how to use it, how it works, ideas for implementingSomeone was interested in Camtasia for Macbook…

How are you involved in education?

  • I have been a public school teacher for 22 years half of that time was spent teaching gifted and computers, the other half in my current assignment. I have served on several state testing committees, worked as a state teacher telementor, taught technology workshops in several districts, and served on my own district’s technology committee.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My classroom is at its best when students are actively in control of their learning. This may involve inquiry in science or research and presentation in social studies. Students are encouraged to use anything from play-dough to iPads to accomplish these goals. It isn’t always about the technology, but it is always about the student.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • Creation and use of student-produced video in the classroom.

How are you involved in education?

  • I currently have the rewarding position of getting to serve schools and administrators in their efforts to increase student achievement. I graduated from OU in 1999 and have sought out as many different types of teaching experiences as possible. I’ve been very fortunate to be a counselor, teacher, content specialist, and camp director in Colorado, Oregon, Alaska, the K20 Center and most recently U.S. Grant High School in OKCPS.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal classroom would be one in which students were actively engaged in their own learning and the teacher was a facilitator. It would be one that is hands on and allows students to apply critical thinking and technology enhance their experience. I would love for a classroom that is interactive and gets kids out of their seats.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • Teaching students how to be a Historian.

How are you involved in education?

  • My last job was Technology Integration Specialist, Business Teacher, and Director of Online Learning for La Crescent-Hokah Public Schools, La Crescent, Minnesota. We moved here last summer to be closer to our daughter who teaches at Moore High School. I was involved in teaching professional development for the district as well as directing a consortium of 5 schools to provide online supplemental education to students. I am currently looking for a place to use my experience and education.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • The ideal classroom is collaborative. Students should be able to collaborate with each other, the teacher, and global experts to create their own learning network. There are many ways to achieve this but one of my favorite is through the Google Applications for Education platform. Teachers facilitate discussions and peer collaboration to guide learning to a higher level. Students are encouraged to construct their own learning experience through classroom experiences combined with at-home collaborative activities.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • Last spring I completed the research for my Ph.D. at La Crescent where we implemented a 1:1 Chromebook initiative in a 3/4 multiage classroom as well as the 9th grade. They have expanded the program to include 10th grade and the entire 4th grade classroom. Teachers are using both the email system through Google and the Google Classroom as well as many other Google applications and scripts to enhance collaboration among their students. The program showed the value of collaboration both teacher and student initiated. My session would be about the program and the results of the research.

Maker Space Playground

  • No textbooks, no tests, no grades! It would be a classroom of inquiry, designing, building, creating, and anything else the students could think of!

  • Meet, Greet, and Share with #oksci teachers! With the new standards out, it would be great if we could meet face to face and share how/what everyone is doing to transition and how it is progressing. If nothing else, just a come and go to meet!

How are you involved in education?

  • I teach world geography, specifically 7th grade. I have the distinct honor of being able to share personal experience and collected artifacts from the Middle East, Europe and many other places that as a soldier I served or visited.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal classroom would be wholly interactive. Students would be more involved and have a greater hand in learning.

  • Maintaining a positive mental attitude in the classroom.
